Kentucky Lake is part of the TVA system and has both commercial barge traffic and pleasure craft. This area is transient by most Great Lake sailors on the way to the gulf coast via the Tennessee and Ten-Tom water ways.
Many powerboats run this river and refer to this as a leg to the "Great Loop". My dock neighbor Dennis decided to move his Valiant 42 down river to Mobile AL. I helped - I hope to do this trip at some future time. The trip is a slow grind and took 13 days in mostly good weather. We had three cold, cold nights. We had three days of foggy morning weather. We had one surprise run in with a barge. And we gained in knowledge the weakness of the boat's primary anchoring system; we found out the hard way that the bitter end of the chain was never properly attached.
